When I was little, I figured out that all those different Santas out there ringing the bells, getting their photos taken at the malls, in the parades, etc. were really secret spies for the REAL Santa. You might call them elves. Some kids thought they were the real deal but I knew better-Santa was an important man and he was busy making toys and checking his lists back at the North Pole so those red-suited guys of various shapes and sizes were just middle men. They played the part, watched to see who was naughty and who was nice and let you sit on their knees so they could relay the message back to the big guy.
Well, Matt must be on Santa’s team.
He had a special mission Sunday afternoon. It called for a big red suit, some extra stuffing and this special assignment even called for a cherry nose. All per the boss’ orders.
You see, some friends of ours were leaving for a trip out of the country and Santa thought it may be helpful to deliver some presents a little early this year. Presents that may entertain and distract them on the plane ride. Presents that may keep their parents half-way sane.
So Matt suited up for the big job. Before he left the house though he tested out his disguise on his own little girls. While his “Ho, Ho, Ho” sure fooled me—Campbell was not so easily swayed. She thought it was funny and called him Santa while she giggled but then finally said “Daddy, why are you playing dress up like Santa?”
He was gone for about an hour and while he was gone she decided she did not like him in that Santa suit at all and told me to tell him to take it off. So when he got home he did. The fun was over but he was one lucky guy, getting to work for Santa. I wonder how much that pays?

Stephanie,
I am so proud of Sara Gray. She did an amazing job in the program Sunday night. I know that was special for you and poor little Capmpbell. I felt so bad for her. I figured she didn't like the fact that you and Matt were on stage without her. So precious!
