Sara Gray’s 4 month check-up & First Food

Sara Gray had her 4 month check-up on Monday. We had just seen Dr. Diebel before we left for the beach since both the girls had colds and I just wanted us all to get well to enjoy our vacation. The doc found an ear infection in SG’s left ear and put both the girls on amoxicillin plus an extra cough medicine for Campbell’s hacking cough!

So when we went back for her scheduled check-up on Monday, I was anxious to see if the ear infection had been healed and just how big she has grown.

Here’s her check-up report:

height: 27 inches (> 95%)
weight: 15 lbs 5 oz (75-90%)
head: 42 cm (75%)

She had vaccines for IPV, DTap, HIB, Prevnar & Rotateq AND was given the go ahead and start experimenting with first foods like fruits & vegetables.  The ear infection was gone and she checked out to be very a healthy & developing baby.

The biggest surprise was her height—she’s off the charts, literally!  When the nurse measured, she thought that she may have made a mistake so she measured twice-nope, Sara Gray was above average by almost 2 inches!!   Dr. Wood showed us the percentage chart and SG was so far above the 95% curve!  I was so used to Campbell being so small for so long that its amazing how much faster SG has grown.  She is already wearing some 6 months clothes and outgrown things I remember Campbell wearing for a very long time. It will be interesting to see if she will always be a tall girl.

Tonight we decided to give Sara Gray her first taste of some food. She has been very interested in watching us eat at the table for awhile and seems to like her rice cereal so I was sure she was going to love chowing down on some Organic Bananas. I wouldn’t say she “loved” it.  She was curious and definitely swallowed but by the 4th or 5th spoonful was not interested anymore. Campbell loved helping and wanted to feed her the entire time.

I think our girls literally are the exact same in weight and height!
