Each year at Christmas, my immediate family takes a break away from all the chaos to jet away for a nice dinner. It’s been a family tradition since I got married. Since we get together at my parents’ house weekly for family dinners and the holidays tend to get us all running in opposite directions, my parents bless us with an extra special night to get dressed up, eat some fine food (and wine) and get the royal treatment to celebrate our family, our past year and of course our Lord in celebration of Christmas. Several years ago, the Christmas season after Hurricane Katrina, my mom was watching the Today Show and saw an interview with Emeril who had just re-opened his restaurant in New Orleans and was encouraging people to return to New Orleans and support the city trying to get back on its feet. Well, she got inspired and the next thing we know-we were all off to New Orleans to eat at Emeril’s! And mom even got to meet Emeril but that is another story…
Since then we have always returned to New Orleans for our special Christmas dinner but changed the venue to Commander’s Palace for the past few years.
Last night was our annual dinner and this was our largest group yet. No children-just the adults, but our family is extending with a new sister-in-law and Christopher’s & Troy’s girlfriends. We ate well, laughed much and lived it up. How absolutely spoiled and at the same time blessed we are!
When we got in the bus it smelled so bad from the strong deodorizer spray! Thankfully Newton had his “gas mask” and Dad made the driver drive with the side door open until we got to the freeway just to air it out. It gave us all something to laugh about!!
THANK YOU TO MY FAMILY FOR WONDERFUL TIMES TOGETHER & FUN MEMORIES!
