This is Puppet. He is our elf. Clairee gave us our own Elf on the Shelf several years ago when she had her shop in Mountain Brook and wow-we didn’t realize we were so ahead of the trend. I think everyone has their own Elf of the Shelf now—its lots of fun for the family and pretty helpful for behavior modification/ manipulate & bribe your kid. We’re glad to have had this tradition for all of Campbell and now Sara Gray’s Christmases!
Campbell named our elf Puppet last year. Not sure why-she was only two and I guess he looked like a puppet. Well, this year she wanted to change his name. At first, to Herman-the bad elf. And most recently to Flicker-no idea why. But we are sticking to Puppet because that is what we wrote in the book last year.
If you are not familiar with Elf on the Shelf, your elf is Santa’s messenger. He watches you during the day and then when you go to bed he flies to the North Pole to report to Santa on your naughty or nice ways. He flies back to your house just before you wake up but lands in a different spot each day. So when we get up in the morning, we go and try to find Puppet to see where he is hiding.
Most days, Campbell loves Puppet. But there was one night she was tired of hearing the threats about Puppet reporting her bad girl behavior to Santa so instead of changing her ways, she decided it would be much easier to just throw Puppet away! I am sure that Santa did not appreciate that-thankfully, she is making her way to the nice list with some good manners and much appreciated potty activity.
Here’s some of Puppet’s favorite spots:
talkin’ on the phone…
hangin’ in the bathroom…
So where does your Elf hide??

Our Elf is Big Al!! Tell Campbell that the Reeves boys are on the Naughty List too, they are working on being good we'll see!!
i love seeing what other people do with their elves. makes it much easier!! We actually had the opportunity to have an Elf 4 years ago, but I said "heck no." I did not have time to fool with that stuff. Not many other people did it, so you didn't have the kids wondering why they didn't have one. Well, now that everyone is on that wagon, I had to get one. Ugh. Actually, it has been a lot of fun for us as Walker is soooo into it!!
