After Nicole commented that she liked my craft tree so much that she shared the idea with a friend-well, I was just flattered! So I thought I might share my other little crafty idea of this season. Well, only partly because it may give you a good idea but mostly so I can remember this for NEXT YEAR when I can’t exactly recall what I did…
This is my solution for displaying Christmas cards & the non-ornament kid crafts & letters that Santa sends as a REMINDER that little girls are supposed to be extra GOOD this time of year… Anyway, I digress. Every year, I struggle. The first cards start off on a cute little wreath but by week two I’ve outgrown that. I love my Christmas cards and its so fun to visit friends and see the cards they’ve gotten as well share pictures of loved ones from afar with my friends here so I am challenged every year with how to show them all off while keeping them away from tiny hands, off the floor and out of my way. Last year, we simply taped them to the kitchen door and cabinets but since everything got a fresh coat of paint this past year with the baby renovations I didn’t want to do that. Thus, the ribbon & clothespins…
Simply take some ribbon-I recommend grosgrain or otherwise textured ribbon as to prevent slipping-and hang. Attach cards with mini clothespin (find them in the craft section at WM) and voila! EASY and fairly cute too, I think.
I did start off hanging them horizontally on the door, laundry line way. However, with more and more cards, they weighed it down too much and after several fixes I just hung the ribbon vertically so that gravity played in my favor.
Christmas cards are one of my most favorite things about this season! It’s so much fun checking the mail, seeing all the different varieties of cards (you know I am a paper addict!) and of course getting to see how my friends and distant family change over the years in their pictures. So a BIG thank you to everyone who sends us cards and helped to make this Christmas craft possible.
Can you find your card?? I’m up to 50 cards and counting with a week left…woo hoo!!
