Happy Homecoming

image

Today was Troy University’s Homecoming which is always a busy day and lots of fun for our family.  The day got started early with the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Homecoming Appreciation Parade.  It was a cool day and I learned my lesson from the pumpkin patch visit so I bundled us all up extra and dropped Sara Gray off with my mom to keep her inside and warm before heading downtown.

As the Chamber BOD Chair, I’m fortunate enough to have reserved seating on the reviewing stand which gives us the perfect spot! We were seated next to our friends Jason & Elly and their precious daughter, Kate.

Campbell was excited that Anna & Sarah was sitting just a few chairs down and spent the second half of the parade with them (after she announced she was tired of looking at “princesses”, which are pageant queens—we do have a lot in Pike County!)image

We have our own little cheering squad! Campbell, Anna, Sarah & Gracie Barner and a bundled up Lola!

After the parade we came home and made a mad dash to get our tailgating food ready, change clothes, pick up Sara Gray, come back home because we left the stroller and tickets and then finally make it over to the campus for tailgating.

and doing some cheerleading too…Give me a “T” !

Our plan was to come home at kick-off since it would be nap time and to save us the hassle and stress of having the girls in the box.  However, Campbell really wanted to go see the football and Matt said he just couldn’t turn her down so we reluctantly and pessimistically headed to the field. It was good to celebrate homecoming with our family & friends in the box but I just wasn’t very sure how long we could run without a nap but lots of sugar from tailgating.

When we got to the box, Campbell was so surprised to see Kenley, her friend & fellow flower girl from Tori’s wedding. Tori brought the girls a hula skirt set back from her honeymoon in Hawaii which was so fun for them.

Sara Gray was awake for most of the game and got lots of attention in her TROY onesie  they didn’t have a pink one in her size!)

We left in the 3rd quarter which was way longer than we had anticipated and both girls held up pretty well.  We came home and Campbell &I started working on Halloween decorations while Matt watched the Alabama game with Sara Gray.

Before I know it Campbell had fallen asleep on the sofa still in her cheerleading uniform.  It was a long but exciting day for both our girls!
