Independence Day is truly a celebration for my family. Its our family’s biggest holiday next to Christmas and we truly have fun “blowing it out”. My mother’s birthday is July 3 so the holiday week/ weekend has always been filled with lots of food, family & friends.
We were at the lake this year and had a blast with a packed house. I was grateful to have so many helping hands, thanks to extra cousins and girlfriends, with Campbell so that she could play while I got to rest and enjoy the A/C or at least covered porch (and not have to get in my swimsuit too much!!). For the first time, Campbell got to enjoy the fireworks show and it was so sweet seeing her clap for her favorite ones and get so excited.
So I made it through the holiday without going into labor--contrary to what some predicted! Yes… I am now officially “dropping”. This weekend was probably the last I’ll have at the lake for awhile, at least until Sara Gray has arrived and I get cabin fever at home and need a change of scenery.
A special thank you to all who presently or have ever served and/or have family in the military. Thanks for fighting for our flag, for our freedom and for my family.
Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend, here’s some of our pics:
Campbell loves waving her flag! A raised flag at the lake house means we are home. I guess seeing our flag wave has always been a symbol for "we are home” for many Americans, especially military, throughout the years.
Campbell & her favorite cousin Chance. They had lots of fun on the tube, even when it was at the dock. It was a weekend of monkey-see, monkey-do for Campbell following Chance’s every move!
Matt got to ride the tube while I got to drive! The kiddos love to tube but the “Big Kids” are really the ones who get the most fun. Most everyone rode the tube at some point in the weekend (well, no of course not me & Sara Gray!) but yes, even Honey & Pats!
Dancing with Nana, Honey & Pats. Those girls love to kick up their heels to some good oldies! I don’t have wonder where in the world she comes from….
Lots of good food! Especially when you can use your hands…It’s not the 4th of July without corn-on-the-cob and cold watermelon!
