Wisdom (teeth) and History

Matt got his wisdom teeth out this past Thursday. Yes, he is 31 years old and just got them out. It was definitely time! He had avoided this since he was a young teenager but finally grew up and realized (with a loving PUSH from his wife!) that the time had come. Everything went well but of course with the pain & swelling that is to be expected. So after being in the house all weekend, it was time for some fresh air!

Today the sun was shining and it was a cool, crisp fall day so I knew it would do all of us some good to get out of the house for awhile. Campbell loves trains and the Pioneer Museum has a huge locomotive that I have promised Campbell we would stop and see one day. Today was just the day!

When we got to the museum we looked at the train, took a mule-drawn wagon ride and then found more a real family artifact! Matt’s stepfather, Tynes, is named for his mother’s (Edie’s) maiden name. When we ran across some huge, old engines with the “Hardie-Tynes/ Birmingham, Ala” plate we knew our Papa Q was the same Tynes’ lineage. These big engines have been at the museum for as long as I can remember but I never paid any attention to them until Matt spotted the plate. It was very cool to have discovered our own piece of history at our local museum!

image Choo-Choo was one of Campbell’s first words. She has always been mesmerized by trains. Probably because we can hear the train whistle at our house (at all hours!)

Don’t touch Daddy’s cheeks, Campbell!!

Finding our own little personal history made for a very interesting and surprising day!

**I got the family history from Sid, Matt's Aunt, so we would have a record. Here it is:**

Hardie-Tynes was started by Edith's grandfather (William Doric Tynes) and Mr Hardie about 1890. Mr Hardie left about 1900. Edith's dad & Tynes' grandfather, (William Fisher Tynes) became President in 1932, after W.D. Tynes death, and remained in that position until his death in 1948. Edith's father designed compressors for submarines and was the only boy with 4 sisters.

So here's the lineage: W.D. Tynes->William Fisher Tynes-> Edith Tynes Quarles -> William Fisher Tynes Quarles -> Matt
